BBC News reports that Chelsea captain John Terry has been cleared of racial abuse charges this morning in London. The charges stem from an on-pitch verbal altercation last October between Terry and Queens Park Ranger player Anton Ferdinand. Ferdinand claims that Terry racially abused him and the Crown brought him up on charges. As previously reported on this site, this is the first criminal charge related to an in-game incident in over 150 years of English professional football.
In support of its ruling, the court stated it was "highly unlikely" that Terry abused Ferdinand in the manner he was accused of.
